This New Year’s Day say goodbye to that which you don’t need, that which clutters your soul & set your intentions with confidence, faith and grace. And then sing “Auld Lang Syne” with us (subtitles are provided in case you don’t remember the words).

Season 1 – Episode 40

Two New Year’s Days – a year apart

On New Year’s Eve in 2013, I attended an online webinar with Mary Morrissey, where she gave some tools on how to set a goal or intention for the year ahead and actually make it happen – rather than make the same half-hearted resolution that’s more than likely to fail.

During the webinar, Mary asked us to envision in detail where we wished to be on the same day one year later- New Year’s Eve 2014.

I imagined myself standing in my new living room (in a new house somewhere with big blue skies), with a cup of tea in my hands, filled with gratitude for having established an inspiring and motivational TV show complete with interesting guests and beautiful music. I imagined my kids attending great schools which they all enjoyed, and having enough quiet time to explore areas within myself which needed further awakening.

Today, exactly one year later, I am standing in the living room of my new home in Franklin, Tennessee with sunlight spilling in, holding my show’s tea mug, and I’m filled with gratitude for wrapping the first season of the “Waking Up In America” multi-platform and TV show.  And yes, the kids are very happy attending great schools… and the quiet time… well… I got some… but let’s just say perhaps my intention for that one wasn’t as convincing.

How did that happen?

“Set your destination and God will get you there” – I had heard many people say.

Now, I believe it to be true.

I found many great resources online that helped me make this mental shift in perspective – from passively surrendering to a cloudy notion of “God’s will” to an active, joyful, and empowering journey, confident in His grace and assistance along the way.

More on specific steps I took to get where I am today read my blog post: Resolutions, Goals and Intentions

In the light of inspiring each other, this New Year’s Day I’m sharing some of my favorite resources of inspiration:
“TED Talks” – one of my favorite is Brene Brown’s talk on vulnerability
“MarieTV” – Marie Forleo’s amazing B-school for small business owners
“Good Life Project” – podcasts with Jonathan Fields that features great interviews with people who are making a difference
Momastery.com – blog and community to add some realness and assure you that you are not alone.

Featured Song (with Subtitles)

“Auld Lang Syne” (traditional)

Should auld acquaintance be forgot
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot
And auld lang syne

For auld lang syne, my dear
For auld lang syne
We’ll take a cup o’ kindness yet
For auld lang syne

    • Thank you Joan –
I watched a lake thaw one spring – very very slowly… I could never understand – or accept patience till that moment… Patience is a GREAT WORD 🙂 Because it doesn’t mean we just ‘sit and wait’… One of my fav quotes: “Adopt the pace of nature her secret is patience” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
(I’ll use a lot of reflecting on patience as I move with my “growth” this year…)
      With love and gratitude!

  • Happy NEW Year from Cincinnati …and my heart. Keep your positive message going. I think my “word” for the new year will be SMILE. …like YOU do!!

  • thank you, Tajci’, for this incredible program and the residual good it is and will do for all of us. I am not able to see all due to work constraints but appreciate all you and Matthew do.

I appreciate you having my good friend Valdasia on recently as her golden heart for the Lord is so contagious! Her song made me cry! And, I have noticed a growing number of ministry leaders have taken on the serious subject of church racial healing.

I want to share your outgoing loving care with as many as I can via word of mouth, emails, name dropping, etc, etc.

Thanks again for helping more leaders share their passion with the world, so more people won’t be able to say that they didn’t know.

Congrats on your new home in Nashville. And, on a new year with new possibilities and open doors and new friends to meet. God is truly using you and your husband’s media talents to ‘get the word out’ for small ministries that God is growing ever so carefully and powerfully.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for ALL you are doing in the name of Jesus Christ.

    In His service,

    Maureen P. Bailey

    • Thank you Maureen!!!
Yes, I am very passionate and excited about this opportunity to feature amazing people like Valdasia and their stories. The power we all have to make a difference is humbling… It really brings to life the words: “You are the light of the world”.

Much gratitude for your help in sharing our episodes with others!
