Ever since I thought of creating this web show, I wanted Loretta to be my guest.
I met her when she did my make up for a music video we shot in Chicago. Her story was very inspiring to me – and I could relate to so many aspects of it including the pressure of looking great being a part of our job.
As she did my make up and shared with me her experiences, I was struck by her strength and moved by her passion to empower and help other women to feel pretty.
Growing up, I wasn’t one of the ‘pretty’ girls – I had broken my front baby teeth and for years I had an ugly smile. My hair was always knotted and my face dirty. And yet, I imagined myself looking like Shirley Temple. I’d sing and pretend I was pretty.

Acknowledge someone’s beauty… we are all created beautiful – notice the light that shines through someone’s eyes, notice their smile. Complement someone today.
Perhaps the person that needs that encouragement and embrace from you is the one that looks at you from the mirror – the first thing in the morning before you put your make-up on.
(and gentlemen, I’d love to hear what you think – about beauty – in women and men! Matthew tells me that guys don’t think much about how they look – and perhaps that’s a bit of the other extreme… – but I know that guys also need to be complemented on their appearance)
